Customized Paper Box Packaging Printing for Document Design And Delivery Standards

Format and classification of printing delivery documents:

Choosing the appropriate file format is crucial in the printing delivery process, as it directly affects the quality of the final customized printed packaging and the final presentation effect.

1. Some printing and packaging factories use PDF format internally, but from the perspective of designers, most designers use AI source file format, which makes it more convenient for designers to make modifications and design adjustments.

2. Many beginners often put all the labels on the outer box in one file, which is not feasible. The factories that print color boxes and labels are often different. So when customizing printing and packaging, we need to separate the outer box printing documents from the label printing, rather than doing them together.

File output format

Usually, an AI source file and a JPG are provided. The purpose of the source file is for later printing use, while the JPG is mainly used for business integration between companies. They are not designers and can only compare images.

Knowledge Point (1)

PDF format: PDF is the preferred format for printing files. Because it can save files in their original format and open and browse them on any device. PDF format can also ensure the consistency and accuracy of files, while protecting their security and preventing tampering.

Knowledge Point (2)

EPS format: EPS format has good yellow compatibility on various image processing software and printing equipment. It has vector characteristics and is suitable for printing large format graphics. It can convert text into paths and avoid printing difficulties caused by font loss.

Knowledge Point (3)

TIFF format (TIFF): This is a platform independent file format. Supports multiple image modes, including CMYK images, RGB images, etc. The TIFF format is suitable for printing typesetting and direct use for printing output, but it should be noted that when using this image, the target operating environment needs to be considered, that is, whether the file will be read by Macintosh or Windows

Knowledge Point (4)

The AI special curve file format mainly involves the process of converting text or contours into curves (contours), in order to ensure the stability and consistency of the file on different platforms and printing processes while maintaining the design intent. The purpose of turning a curve is to convert text or graphic elements in vector graphics into curves, ensuring that the appearance of the design does not change even without the original design software.

Knowledge Point (5)

The superiority of JPG format lies in its high compatibility. Almost all image applications, tools, and web browsers can easily read and manipulate this image format. Therefore, whether on PC, tablet or smartphone, the display and use of JPG images are quite convenient. Therefore, JPG is widely regarded as one of the most popular image formats.

Naming conventions for printing files

The file name must be the project name. Many designers who have just started working often use unnamed names, personal names, and other unrelated names as file naming methods. After finalizing the draft, if there are modifications, the modification time and content should be marked. However, marking the modification date of the day on each modification time can avoid too many errors!

The naming of packaging files varies from company to company, but they all have a purpose. On the one hand, it is for designers to search internally, and on the other hand, it is convenient for liaison personnel to view!

Common mistakes made by novice packaging designers and implementers in the packaging process

Knowledge Point (1)

Size Error: Novice designers may overlook the size of custom packaging printing, resulting in the same issue in the design during printing or practical application For example, incorrect use of knife mold lines or design traps with random text may result in the final product not meeting expectations.

Knowledge Point (2)

Design issue: The use of outdated graphics, inconsistent brand elements, or packaging templates can reduce the attractiveness of the product. Professional design services and market research are key to avoiding these issues.

Knowledge Point (3)

Insufficient protection: Inappropriate packaging materials or designs may cause product damage, deterioration, or contamination, affecting customer satisfaction and return rates. It is necessary to choose suitable packaging materials and conduct quality assurance tests.

Knowledge Point (4)

Regulatory compliance issues: Failure to comply with packaging regulations and industry standards may result in legal liability, fines, and reputational damage. Understanding and complying with relevant packaging regulations and standards is key to avoiding such issues.

Knowledge Point (5)

Inefficient packaging process: Inefficient packaging processes increase supply chain costs, delays, and inefficiencies. The efficiency of the packaging process can be improved through automation and lean production methods.

Precautions for prepress text

1. The graphic text must be converted into curves, and it is necessary to check whether the converted text is shifted, otherwise there will be missing characters and incorrect files will be printed;

2. GB-2312 font is prohibited. This type of font will have obvious hollow areas where strokes intersect after converting curves, and Fangzheng Meihei will also have this situation when not converting curves;

Small details that packaging designers should keep in mind (text)

01Attention must be paid to whether all the text in the text box is displayed in the paragraph text;
02Contour characters must be separated by selecting all fonts and outlines, then converting the text into curves and dividing the outlines separately;
03Stereoscopic characters must be separated together and converted into curved lines, and the stereoscopic image must be converted into a dot matrix image;
04Words with shadows must be selected and separated together, and then converted into curves and shadows into dot patterns;
05Transparent characters must be converted into curves and the effect must be redone;
06Text using text boxes and envelopes must be converted to curves;

Precautions for prepress images

Packaging design often requires the use of image materials, but there are many details that need to be paid attention to, otherwise it will cause printing errors, common image connection problems, image resolution issues, image color modes, image bleeding settings, and so on. At the beginning of the work, it is often easy to make mistakes. Here, please pay attention!

Small details that packaging designers should keep in mind (pictures)

01

Validity of file links: Ensure that all linked image materials are valid and avoid file relocation Or remove the dialog box that causes' file loss'. Suggest packaging all image materials and source files, Overall movement to avoid problems caused by invalid file links.

02

Image resolution: The resolution of an image is crucial for printing quality. Generally speaking, if the output is set the backup resolution is high, and the image resolution needs to be adjusted to 150-300DP1. For printing, this is to match four color printing with a printer and ensuring that the image resolution reaches 300DPI.

03

Bleeding: Elements such as images, graphics, and text in the design need to be positioned at least 3mm away from the net size. Ensure that the cut parts of graphics, images, and text are preserved to avoid exposing white edges or cutting inside the finished product after cutting ronghe pictures.

In the future, it will be the experience summarized by our factory over the years of production and design process. This is both our wealth and the wealth of our customers. We have this experience and have summarized it to teach every salesperson, designer, and engineer in the company, so that we can help customers avoid various problems from the design stage when customizing packaging box printing.
